The thing a mesh does that a buckled strap cannot is land exactly on your wrist. A punched strap gives you a hole every seven or eight millimetres, and on a lot of wrists the right size is between two of them. A milanese clasp slides along the weave and clamps, so the adjustment is continuous, and it is the reason people who have worn one rarely go back.

The trade is metal against skin. Steel carries nickel and lets a little of it go in wear, the wrist under a watch is one of the places a nickel rash turns up, and no amount of polishing changes that for somebody already sensitised. If costume jewellery has ever left you red, the silicone and nylon lines do the same job without the question.

How does a GEAK metal band adjust to your wrist?

The clasp slides along the mesh and clamps where you leave it, so there are no holes and no in-between sizes. On the link-style bands, links come out with the pin tool in the box.

Do GEAK metal bands carry nickel against your skin?

Steel alloys carry nickel, and a little of it comes off in wear. We have measured nothing about these bands and we do not call any of them hypoallergenic. Nickel is the most commonly confirmed contact allergen in the United States, and the wrist under a watch is one of the places the rash shows up.

Will a GEAK mesh band scratch your watch?

The end pieces are the part that touches the case, and they are the same steel as the mesh. Fit it with the watch face down on a cloth rather than face up on a table and the case stays as it was.
